ABOUT US

Vision and style have never been so clear.

Each frame has a story to tell

Made In Africa By Africans

At Wazi Vision, we believe eyewear is more than a necessity; it’s a form of self-expression and confidence. As Africa’s leading eyewear brand, we design and craft our glasses in Kampala, Uganda, combining modern frames with African-inspired artistry.

Our mission is to make high-quality prescription glasses accessible in Uganda and beyond. Every pair is designed by African artists for comfort and distributed through our flagship store,  hospitals, optical stores, and distributors. We help people see clearly and confidently.

At Wazi, we empower individuals, celebrate African creativity, and make a positive impact in communities, one pair of glasses at a time.

Our Story: The Vision Behind Wazi Vision

Founded in 2016 by Brenda Katwesigye Baganzi and Geogette Ochieng Ndabukiye in Kampala, Uganda, Wazi Vision began with a simple but bold idea: make eyewear affordable and accessible for everyone. Moved by her own struggle to afford glasses even with insurance, Brenda set out to change the way eye care is delivered. Geogette, inspired by the same vision, joined her to co-create a brand built on purpose, innovation, and impact.

The name “Wazi” means “clear” in Kiswahili; a reflection of our commitment to clarity in both sight and mission.

Innovation Through Sustainability

Our journey began with frames made from recycled plastic, a bold first step toward sustainable design. With the support of partners like the Assistive Technology Impact Fund (ATImpact), we transformed our production process into one that is cost-effective, environmentally conscious, and economically viable.

Today, we craft a diverse range of stylish frames using eco-friendly materials such as:

  • Acetate sourced from France and Italy
  • Bamboo harvested locally in Uganda
  • Repurposed cow horn waste, giving new life to discarded natural resources

Each pair of Wazi glasses reflects our deep commitment to reducing environmental impact while delivering high-quality, unique African eyewear. At Wazi, sustainability is not a trend; it is at the heart of everything we create.

Partnering for Greater Impact

Wazi works hand-in-hand with hospitals, institutions, insurance companies, optical centers, and distributors across Uganda and East Africa.

A portion of every sale supports community eye health education and outreach programs, ensuring no one is left behind.

At Wazi, we’re more than an eyewear company; we’re a movement
